Saffron of Iran unknown to many around the world
It is a known fact that 94% of the world's saffron is grown in Iran, but the world does not know "Iran’s saffron "
While 94 percent of the world's saffron is cultivated in Iran, "Iran's saffron" is anonymous in the world, and because the bulk of Iran's saffron is exported to Spain, the world recognizes saffron as Spain, not Iran.
"Quality of product, price, distribution locations, type of packaging and market problem and marketing are factors affecting saffron exports in the country," said Mohsen Ehtesham, chairman of the National Council of Saffron.
He added: "We have not transformed traditional methods of selling saffron into scientific methods." So the system lacks up-to-date marketing methods.

Etesham said that by creating appropriate fields of comparative advantage in the saffron export sector, it should become a competitive advantage.
The private sector has done a great deal in the field of saffron exports but the public sector has not been able to come close to the private sector.
Export incentives should be given in a way that the saffron packaging industry thrives.
Mahmoud Bazari, Coordinator of Export and Trade Organization Coordination Bureau of Exports said that from 2003 to 2013 export awards were given to create value added product and packaging quality promotion in Saffron sector.
Saffron has the biggest portion of exporting food products in Iran, and the added value it requires from industries that can pack saffron with state-of-the-art technology.
We have exported saffron to more than 45 countries in household carton packages, but we export to two of the three major markets of saffron in one and a half kilogram packages.
He added that in the past 20 years, firms operating in the sector have not grown significantly, adding: "We have reached a five-year engagement with the National Council of Saffron to increase the value added of this product."
We plan to brand Iranian saffron and support brand registration given the budget allocated to it.
Mohammad Ali Tahmasebi, Deputy Minister of Horticulture Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, said that knowledge-based companies are active for harvesting saffron mechanization and good news is on the way.
He added: Of the 122,000 hectares of saffron cultivated in the world, 115,000 hectares belong to Iran.
In neighboring countries, more than 5,000 hectares of saffron are cultivated.
The yield of saffron per hectare in all countries is on average 4 kg, but if the conditions and cultivation are regular and practical, 20 kg of saffron will be harvested in Iran.
Deputy Minister of Horticultural Affairs Ministry of Agriculture Jihad added: "All efforts are being made to give the responsibility of exporting Saffron to the private sector.
Just ask me about Iran
